About Clare

All my life I have loved photography – both taking photographs and going to photographic exhibitions and learning from the photographs of others such as Henri Cartier-Bresson, Don McCullin, Tony Snowdon, Annie Liebovitz and especially Bill Cunningham (1929-2016) who particularly interests me now for his street photography.

However, it was during the Pandemic lockdown in March 2020 that I started taking a much keener interest in my own photography.  London was deserted and I found myself walking through the eerily quiet streets and parks with a growing and instinctive interest in the composition of a photograph and particularly light on water, reflections and the shapes and dimensions of architecture.

The longer lockdown went on the more opportunities grew for capturing moments of tranquility in London.  The majority of my recent photographs have been taken in London but with travel bans lifting post-lockdown hopefully opportunities will arise to explore other cities with my camera!

I was thrilled to win the Evening Standard Lockdown in London 2021 competition and this has led to an invitation to exhibit some of my photographs and a possible idea to publish a book.  Let’s see what happens!  Meanwhile I keep walking and taking photographs…
